Everyone wants to grow beautiful and healthy roses. You just need to follow the laws of nature.

Preparing the ground

You can grow a rose on any soil, with the exception of marshy and salt marshes. Ideally, if they are slightly acidic (pH 5.5-6.5). Before planting roses, you need to determine the type of soil in the garden and prepare the appropriate earthen mixture for the planting pit. You can find out the type of soil just by touch, rolling a lump in the palm of your hand.

Fertilize

Top dressing roses seems to be simple and understandable when you look at the table. There is one recommendation that you must strictly follow: apply fertilizer only in accordance with the life cycle of roses. Watching the growth of a plant, you will never harm it.

Kidney swelling, spring start of shoot growth, budding is the language of the rose, in which she says: I need top dressing. In spring it is better to be a little late than to do everything in advance, because premature growth stimulation is not good for the plant.

Mulch

Mulch helps retain water and prevents weed growth. For beauty, tree bark is often used, but for roses it is unacceptable - it acidifies the soil. You should also not use black film, gravel and decorative stones, fresh sawdust. Mulch suitable for roses is freshly cut grass, a large fraction of rotted manure, large rotted sawdust.

We fight with pests of roses

Pests of roses living in the soil or simply wintering in it will not be a problem if you water the plants with infusion of yarrow, hemlock, garlic, onion. You can plant sage, yarrow, bear bow, decorative bows, marigolds on flower beds with roses: this will not violate the harmony of the composition, but will protect it from unnecessary pests. Joint plantings with juniper Cossack also have a beneficial effect on roses.

Pests that live on leaves and stems do not pose a great danger. Effective ways to deal with them - manual collection, this is pruning damaged shoots and luring birds into the garden. It is difficult to collect small insects (aphids, cicadas) manually, in this case a strong stream of water will help.

Preventing Rose Disease

One of the most common diseases is black spotting. The lower leaves of roses are affected, usually in late summer and mainly in autumn. From mid-August, scatter ash under the bushes. If black spotting strikes in spring, new seedlings purchased in a nursery can not do without chemistry.

But you need to apply modern fungicides, for example, "Strobi". It acts at low temperatures (1-4 ° C) and even on moist foliage, non-toxic to warm-blooded animals, safe for beneficial insects and completely decomposes in the soil.

In frost-resistant roses, in contrast to more heat-loving roses, the mechanism of self-preparation for winter is laid in the genotype. The gardener's task is to help the evergreen roses fully armed to meet the cold. For this:

  • Do not feed roses in the second half of summer (with the exception of wood ash).
  • Do not prune roses and even faded inflorescences starting in August.
  • Pinch the apex buds on any growing shoot, starting in late August.

If you decide to grow roses organically, choose only disease-resistant varieties.
